Warren Newfield - Co-Chairman
Mr. Newfield has been Chief Executive Officer of CIC Energy since late 2007. He is the founder of CIC Energy and has served as the Co-Chairman since its inception. Mr. Newfield is the founder and Chairman of Tau Capital Corp., a private investment and advisory services company. Mr. Newfield was a co-founder, past President and director of AfriOre Limited. In 2007 this TSX-listed company was sold to Lonmin plc for C$500 million. From 1997 to 2000 he was a director and VP Corporate Development of Platexco Inc. until the company was acquired for C$191 million by Impala Platinum. Mr Newfield is a director and co-founder of Talon Metals Corp.
Reuel Khoza - Co-Chairman2
Mr. Khoza is Executive Chairman of Aka Capital (Pty) Limited, a company which he founded in 2001, and the former Chairman of Eskom Holdings Ltd. He currently acts as Chairman for Corobrik (Pty) Limited, Murray and Roberts Cementation (Pty) Limited, Akani Leisure (Pty) Limited, and the NEPAD Business Foundation and a Director of Nedbank Group, Nampak Ltd., Old Mutual Plc and Gold Reef Casino Resorts Limited. Mr. Khoza is also a former Executive Committee Member of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development and former Member of the International Business Council of the World Economic Forum. Dr. Khoza received a Masters in Marketing degree from the University of Lancaster in the United Kingdom as well as a Bachelor of Arts (Hons) degree in Psychology from the University of the North in South Africa.
Mandla Gantsho
Dr. Mandla Gantsho is the Vice President Operations: Infrastructure, Private Sector & Regional Integration of the African Development Bank, prior to which he was Chief Executive Officer and Managing Director of the Development Bank of Southern Africa. He currently serves on the board of the Centre for Public Service Innovation and Mediro Industrial Holdings and holds non-executive directorships in Sasol Ltd. and Transnet Ltd. Dr. Gantsho has a PhD from the University of Pretoria, a Masters in Science from The George Washington University and a Bachelor of Commerce (Hons) degree from the University of Cape Town.
Blackie Marole
Mr. Marole has been the Managing Director of Debswana Diamond Company (Pty) Ltd. from October 2004 to present. Prior to that, he spent 4 years at De Beers Centenary AG as a Manager and served as Permanent Secretary in Botswana's Ministry responsible for Energy, Water and Minerals for 21 years. Mr. Marole also holds the position of Chairman of Barclays Bank Botswana. Mr. Marole received a Masters in Economics from Williams College in Massachusetts in 1982 as well as a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from the University of Botswana in 1979.
Sandra Cowan 1,2
Ms. Cowan is Partner and General Counsel at EdgeStone Capital Partners, one of Canada's leading private equity firms. She joined Edgestone in October 2001 with 15 years of legal experience. Prior to that, she was a senior partner of Goodman and Carr LLP in Toronto. Ms. Cowan received a Bachelor of Laws Degree from the University of Western Ontario. Ms. Cowan is considered to be one of Canada’s leading private equity lawyers and currently serves on the Board of Directors of Talon Metals Corp., Eurospec Manufacturing and Tooling, New Food Classics, Specialty Catalog and The Continental Group
Len Konar 1,2
Dr. Konar is a Chartered Accountant and has been self-employed since 1998. Prior to 1998, he was an Executive Director for Independent Development Trust for six years. Prior to that, he was a professor and head of the Department of Accountancy at the University of Durban-Westville. Dr. Konar currently serves as a non-executive director to Old Mutual South Africa, the South African Reserve Bank, J D Group, Sappi, Exxaro Resources, Illovo Sugar and Steinhoff International Holdings and as an external audit committee member of the International Monetary Fund in Washington. Mr. Konar received a Masters of Accounting Sciences from the University of Illinois as well as a Bachelor of Commerce (Hons) degree from the University of Durban-Westville.
E. Adrian Meyer1
Mr. Meyer is a Chartered Accountant and the co-founder and President of Cidel Bank & Trust Inc., a private wealth management bank and a trust company. Cidel is now the largest privately owned bank and trust company in Barbados. Prior to this Mr. Meyer held executive level positions in two of the three largest trust companies in Canada. He began his career with Coopers & Lybrand in South Africa after receiving a Bachelor of Commerce with Honours from Rhodes University.
Gregory Kinross - President & CEO
Mr. Kinross has been the President and Chief Executive Officer of CIC Energy since inception. Mr. Kinross has also been Executive Vice-President, Business Development of Tau Capital Corp. from 2005 to present. From 1998 to 2004 he was involved in private equity and investment banking. Prior to 1998, Mr. Kinross spent three years as a Manager at PricewaterhouseCoopers, South Africa. Mr. Kinross, a Chartered Accountant, received a Bachelor of Commerce Degree (With Distinction) from the University of the Witwatersrand in 1993, as well as a Bachelor of Accountancy Degree (With Distinction) from the University of the Witwatersrand in 1994. Mr. Kinross is a director of Talon Metals Corp.
